Should we legalise Drugs?

My thoughts on the legalisation of certain and all illegal substances.

Drug related crime is a huge concern globally and here in the UK we have saw huge increase in Drug Related crime offences and drug related deaths, so the question begs, is it worth legalising drug use?

This article is looking at drug users in a difference perspective not as criminal but are in fact victims, I want to show a different way of treating drug related crime and hopefully gave those who feel tougher sentencing is needed some food for thought.

I grew up on a council estate, I saw friend fall victim to drug usage at an early age — some as early as 13 years old maybe younger but my memory may be letting me down. I saw good friends start with drugs as as ‘Tac’ a resin form on cannabis, a so called ‘gateway drug’, those same friends who sneaked off at school to smoke this resin from a plastic bottle as a makeshift bong have later in life ended up in the hospitality of the prison service or in same cases are no longer with us. Promising you people, taken down a pathway of crime that started as young children. Did the system fail them?

When I look at the issue of drug related offences I categorise them two forms, drug dealing and drug usage, the latter should not be a criminal offence but the prior…
